I thought I'd blog a little regarding interesting documentaries I've seen in the past year.  We're covering a fairly random selection here folks; from metal to lions to gaming with some stops along the way.  Bear with me!

The Elder Scrolls Online - Update/Amend

Eeeeeeeee! Concern over ESO's potential usage of the HeroEngine was mentioned in my previous post about the game (in the comments section).  Just yesterday however GameInformer posted an article to clear things up:

A moment of silence...

I'll be very busy the next couple of weeks as I'm moving to Switzerland!  As such I may not blog again until the middle of June.

In the meantime, enjoy these game-related movies of awesomeness!

GamerZ (2005)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0450269/

A love triangle with a twist of fantasy! The hero is Ralph, a young nerd from a bad neighborhood who's on his way to university for the first time. Ralph is completely downtrodden in life, but he escapes from a cruel reality that he can't control by creating insanely detailed fantasy game worlds (as in fantasy games such as "Dungeons and Dragons" or "Tunnels and Trolls"), in which he is firmly in charge, as "Game Keeper". When Ralph arrives at university he immediately takes over the fantasy role-playing society from the resident Game Keeper in a ruthless coup.

The Gamers: Dorkness Rising (2008)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0447166/

All Lodge wants is for his gaming group to finish their adventure. Unfortunately, they're more interested in seducing barmaids, mooning their enemies, and setting random villagers on fire. Desperate to rein in his players, Lodge injects two newbies into the distrust: a non-player character controlled by Lodge, who the power gamers immediately distrust, and the rarest gamer of all -- a girl. Can the group overcome their bickering to save the kingdom, or will the evil necromancer Mort Kemnon triumph unopposed? A parody of fantasy films and the adventure gaming community, The Gamers: Dorkness Rising is a hilarious romp through the world of sword and sorcery -- in this case, a world of exploding peasants, giant house cats, and undead roast turkeys. Game on!

Random Nostalgia

If you haven't already seen this, or if you vaguely remember it from childhood; the full 1978 animated version of Lord Of The Rings is up on YouTube!

I've had this on VHS since I was a baby and I still love the music - what a brilliant upload!

WARHAMMER: 1.4.6 on PTS

http://ageofreckoning.warhammeronline.com/article/Version-146-Comes-PTS-0517

To me the most interesting thing about this patch (that otherwise is a glorified hotfix being "sold" as a patch) is the changes to City instancing, effective level and scenarios.

Elder Scrolls Online

Well this is looking interesting!  One of my favourite IPs alongside Warhammer and TES: Daggerfall was the first PC game I proper lost hours, days and weeks to.  While the PvP mechanics descriptions sound fairly "oh here we go again" with a similar RvR premise to WAR/DAOC and now GW2 etc, there seem to be some other interesting ideas.

WAR: Coming Back

So I played WAR tonight, the problem is that with any break you come back and see the worst straight away.  This is especially important as new joiners will see the same.

We have guild members in lower tiers who report really high activity.  We're talking three warbands in T3 on both sides making the most of the stat caps and being able to gank lower people coming up.  I also hear reports of regular 5k damage from shadow warriors in this tier.  Something wrong?

Remembering WAAAAAAAAAGHHH!!

Ended up in my Warhammer screenshots folder earlier today and discovered pics going back to 2009 and dear lord so many epic memories of guildies, friends and enemies over the past three years....

I had to make a video-album in order to preserve it:

I noticed Bootae post an old video a couple of days ago, for some reason I expect to see more of these in the coming weeks/months and I look forward to it.  For all its faults and flaws Warhammer was an awesome game and much fun & slaughter can still be had.

See you on the battlefield.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHH!

WAR.. wot?

So I logged back in for some Warhammer action after the GW2 beta and had to flaff with buttons and trying to dodge-roll in combat - eeeeeeee!

Seriously though, there was a MASSIVE order blob of names and guilds I didnt know, felt like I had been gone 3 months not 3 days!

Anyway, I have to say that I found myself smiling quite quickly while stabbing people in the bum with my witch elf, the "haha, you're dead" feeling is instant, gratifying and obvious.  I was never quite sure if I killed someone in GW2 until I fell over them in downed state and was asked to hit an F button....

Which brings me to a small rant about said "finish him/her" mechanic.  I just don't like it and think it should be removed from PvP.  It's just embarassing watching people scrabbling to hit that button while there is still a fight going on and honestly I don't really see the point.  Keep downed state - remove the finisher, simples.
